In April 2020, amidst the uniquely challenging environment created as a result of the government lockdowns, an idea was born from a discussion between Kelly McAndrew, founder of Soldiers For Faith Ministries, and Chad Mattson, lead singer and founding member of the Christian band Unspoken.
Not immune from today’s environment, musicians have been very directly affected through the canceling of concerts and closing of other performance venues where their special gifts have been muted and their livelihoods virtually shut down.
The audience has also been impacted as we are unable to gather in person for Christian fellowship and worship.
In discussing the difficulties faced by our fellow Christians and the rest of the world and inspired by Hebrews 10:24-25, the concept of creating a virtual concert series of Christian artists was created.
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
The spirit of this passage led them to the concept of an intimate, highly personalized, and interactive Christian concert experience — the At Home Concert Experience.
Serving the Least of These
As the initial performances have taken place, and feedback from the audience has come flooding in, Kelly and Chad see that there is an ongoing opportunity to serve an audience who — for a variety of reasons — will never be able to venture back out into the “real world” for live concert performances.
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
The At Home Concert Experience team has been able to serve, through the support of interactive technology platforms, and offer:
- Live Christian music entertainment
- Relational interaction between the audience and musicians
- A platform that enables the community to praise God and give Him thanks for His grace and mercy
- Providing hope and relief to those suffering from isolation and its many destructive manifestation
About Soldiers for Faith
Soldiers For Faith Ministries was founded in 2012 by Kelly McAndrew with the mission and intention to encourage believers and lead non-believers to the Truth of the Gospel. While the ministry coordinates and sponsors a number of in-person events, the primary emphasis is leading and coordinating call-in Bible Studies on a weekly basis, leveraging conference call technology to reach people that are geographically dispersed and/or may be ‘shut in’ for any reason.
Inspired by John 1:45-46 and Philip’s encouragement to Nathaniel, “Come & See” is at the Ministry’s evangelical core.
45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
The simple evangelical invitation from a believer to an unbeliever to “Come & See” has allowed the Ministry to grow bringing the Word of God to thousands of people on an annual basis.
Most recently, the Ministry has launched its Soldiers For Faith Warriors program in partnership with Sparrow Ranch with Bible Studies designed specifically for both those with special needs and their caretakers.
